| EDDIE VEDDER - Band Info Info on the people that make Pearl Jam. Although "Eddie Jerome Vedder" is Ed's real name, his birth name was "Edward Louis Seversen III". He was born in Evanston, Illanois, on December 23, 1964. Before joining "Pearl Jam", Eddie Vedder was in a band called "Bad Radio" from which the song "Betterman" originated. After, he was backing vocals for the band "Temple of the Dog", a tribute band for the musician Andrew Wood, who died from drug overdose. Eddie's parents split in 1965, when young Vedder was just 1 year old. After, his mother married a man called Peter Mueller, who Eddie believed to be his real father for years, obviously inspiring the song "Alive". Eddie started music at age 12, getting a guitar for his birthday. He turned to music for confort. When Eddie was 15, he was on his own, changing his last name to his mother's maiden name "Vedder", after his mother went through her second divorce. He learned of who his father was, and discovered that it was a man he had met before. |

| Edward dropped out of school. In 1984, he moved to San Diego with his
girlfriend, Beth Liebling, who he later married and then divorced. He took
up a job at a petrol station. he was given a tape from Seattle musician
Stone Gossard by Jack Irons, one of Vedder's friends and former drummer
for the "Red Hot Chili Peppers". Vedder recorded vocals for three
of the unfinished songs, the Mamasan tape (Once, Alive and Footsteps), which
got him the job in the band which was then known as "Mookie Baylock".
He has not only been the lead singer, lyricist and frontman for the band, he has also played the guitar since 1993 in many of the band's songs. Vedder is married to model Jill McCormick. They have a daughter, Olivia, who born on 11 June 2004 |
